Why people stopped

Abandoned-Feature Interviews

Conversations with people who tried a specific capability in a productivity app and then went back to the method they already trusted.

Duration
Two to three weeks
Where
Interviews in person or by video
Fee
From RM 4,900
A researcher listening during a one-to-one conversation in a quiet room

Who it is for

Teams who can already see that a feature is opened and then ignored, and who need the reasons in the person’s own words rather than another chart of drop-off.

What you leave with

Eight to ten interview notes plus a synthesis that groups the actual substitutes people returned to: paper lists, another app, a colleague’s spreadsheet, or simply doing the task in their head.

Scope

One feature, or two closely related ones. We do not treat “the whole settings menu” as a single feature.

Who runs it

Interviews led by Amina Rahman. A junior researcher may sit in to take notes.

How the weeks run

  1. Name the feature and the period in which it was tried.
  2. Screen and book interviews.
  3. Hold the conversations and write the synthesis within a week of the last session.

Place and preparation

Our rooms in Taman Seri Gombak, the participant’s workplace, or video when they sit outside Selangor.

If you have a list of people who used the feature and went quiet, share it. If you do not, we recruit from our own contacts in Klang Valley offices.

Limits

We will not share surnames or employer names in the write-up unless the person agrees in writing.

Fee

From RM 4,900 for eight interviews in English. Malay-language interviews add a modest transcription fee.

Next step

Tell us which feature went quiet and whether you already have people we may contact.
